On 23 March 2015, FTA signed an MoU with HKPC (Hong Kong Productivity Council), based on both organisations’ common objectives to support supply chains to improve environmental management and performance.
HKPC is the implementing agent for the Cleaner Production Partnership Programme, which encourages and facilitates Hong Kong-owned factories in Guangdong and Hong Kong to adopt cleaner production (CP) technologies and practices. This programme was created and is funded by the Hong Kong (SAR) Environmental Protection Department, allowing HKG-owned factories in Guangdong and HKG to request funding for cleaner production projects.
BEPI and HKPC agree that BEPI’s Improvement Phase and CPPP’s On-site Improvement Assessment Project are similar in approach and outcomes. BEPI will accept the on-site improvement assessment project in lieu of the Improvement Phase, while HKPC provides access to eligible producers to the funding available.
BEPI and HKPC also deploy activities to raise awareness about the importance of cleaner production in China. Click here to read about a joint meeting held in November of 2015, and stay tuned for information on the next meeting, planned for June 2016.
